v0.14.0: Ask Claude About Your Own Life

Remember This now starts with one question about you, and then gets on with it. And once it's set up, you can ask about your past from Claude Code, with no copying and pasting: when were you last in Lisbon, who was at the cabin that summer, what you said in that voice memo about the house.

One question to start

Setting up Remember This now asks you one thing: tell me a bit about yourself. Say it out loud, type it, or answer from your phone. While you do, the app sorts out what it needs from the Mac on the same screen. Then there's one button, All set — let's go, and it does.

What you said doesn't disappear into a settings page. It's written down as who you are, in your own words, and every session the app runs afterwards reads that first. That covers each night's write-up and each chapter of your Life Book. If you said the kids and the move to Helsinki are what matter, that's where it starts looking.

Ask about your past from Claude Code

If you use Claude Code, Remember This now comes with a skill for it. Open Claude Code in your Remember This folder, or add the skill, and ask the way you'd ask a person: when was I last in Lisbon, find photos of my dad from the nineties, what did I say in that voice memo about the house. Claude looks it up in your archive on this Mac and tells you where the answer came from: a photo's place, a name from Apple Photos, a line in a transcript.

Anything bigger, like a summary of last month or a chapter of your life story, gets handed to the app rather than done in the chat. It runs as one of the app's own sessions, where you can watch it and answer its questions, from the Mac or your phone.

Read it, then say what to change

When Remember This has written something for you to read, such as a chapter, a month or a diary entry, it opens in the app as a page rather than as a file. Under the page there's a box and a mic. Tell it what's wrong or what's missing, and that goes to the next session as a note about that page.

Underneath

Over the last two months the app has got quieter and more thorough. The nightly session runs on schedule again. Photos taken on a phone now get place names. Voice memos Apple saved in its other format are picked up too. And the app no longer asks macOS for folders it has no reason to read. Most of it won't show as a feature. It shows as more of your library actually being read, and that's what the next versions build on.

Download Remember This for Mac. There's also an early alpha for Windows PCs: it installs, asks its first question and shows your Life Book, but it can't read your photos or recordings yet, so for now there isn't much in it to look at.
